About.

So far, this blog has mostly been on the topic of feminism. I hope to continue to learn and write about more issues. Generally I take an interest in a number of areas. Including European and British politics, Social issues, LGBT rights, Human Rights and International development.Thank you for taking the time to read my blog :D

  1. Not bad at all, your arguments are well listed and thorough despite the few grammatical errors (I kid, who cares honestly!). Although, there are some feminists out there who treat men just as badly and view most if not all them as pigs and try to convey them in a certain manner berating 'us'. Could you perhaps look into this? It's definitely insulting to see women being treated with lesser respect, and it's equally disrespectful on our account when the majority of males are labelled as a 'lad' who likes sport and have to act in a certain manner much like those other stereotypes.

    1. Hi there, thanks for the comments. Well I totally agree that men can be stereotyped in a certain way that is highly unfair. I definitely want to look into this more. To be honest, Feminism is as much for men as it is for women, like the example you said, with the damaging label of 'lad' etc. :)

    2. Being a male feminist, I really love it when they make the ideals of feminism clear and not be stereotypical about having women run around in fear and having to be rescued all the time. In fact perhaps most reviewers would like to comment on that, as it always detracts from realism and if anything it's mostly used for 'fan-service' or simply because they're plain ignorant and care little for lackl-uster plot and character development which, never really works anyway. I find that a strong female character can be much more attractive when they take command and project strength, courage and charisma. They are also more realistic, because women are just as equally strong as men- or at least the same capacity to be. Granted, there are women who are probably shy and do not live up to these ideals, as do some men.

You tackled that the media is also to blame, it is true (and I comment because I love ripping apart TV shows and films that really suck); but it is improving marginally, unless I recently hit my head on the pavement and forgot all the bad things that have been done to berate the strength of women and their individuality and equality. As a reviewer, there are one or two TV shows that really have a strong grasp for feminism and is never really touched upon... Although, when it comes down to it occasionally, the writer involved in making a bunch of giggling girls running around in terror usually comes up with the excuse 'we need to create a sense of fear' or at least something else that is warped/contorted. In the eyes of somebody who's considered 'sexist', perhaps a derogatory term, surely having a male get scared creates more friction? As they are considered 'stronger and dominant'. Contradictory, if I may add. It is much stronger when you don't make that fear obvious, yet some writers feel it's more necessary to portray the fear using women. ?!?!?!?!?!? ...Why? I'll end it here, so I don't rant. :P
